SYF'09

okay. it's over.
read the dashboard at the side >>>
If u can't/u're blind, then pls be informed that we have something on on the 30th Apr so there will still be band prac for at least the last 4 Mon/Wed/Fridays before the showcase on the 30th itself. Please listen to the recordings on the e-group: don't tell me you can't be bothered, otherwise u're asking for me to give you hell.
As for the results, let people laugh if they want to, but make sure you remain undaunted. Since we got a silver, theres only one direction you can go in 2 years time. Sec 2s'09, don't let us down :D
P.S.: A small piece of encouragement - the Clarinets section performed well for the SYF'09 based on what I heard. Don't take it for granted though - there're still some mistakes to be corrected.

well :/

Probably no one will see this, but there's something to say:

Today whatever happened during concert probably dealt a big blow to you, because Mr Oura has never flared up this much at us clarinets thus far. But even so, take it as a lesson learnt.

Scoldings given the whole day - meh that's intolerable to some extent. But then take it as a motivation to work even harder, and don't give up due to whatever you have been dealt with. Time is running short, SYF is in 50+ days, so all the more you should reflect on your standard and put in the amount of effort accordingly. Wait - just put in your best effort, 100% effort during every practice.

If you don't get it, try try again. That's the way to correct your mistakes.

To reiterate, if you have a problem don't hesitate to ask any of us seniors.

Brandon was right about me about last time - I realised I didn't take practices that seriously in the past. Don't be like what I have turned out to be. The best time to start a change is now. Change starts right from you.

And to quote him again: Start thinking. Stop stoning.

Okay, if you feel like it, your short-term goal is to be better than me. That's right. :D

practical tests

Good luck to the Sec 1s for their practical test tomorrow!

Honestly, this test isn't die-die important, but take it seriously: because the Sec 4s grading you will take it seriously too. It's your only test in the whole year, (excluding drills test, wait, do you all have drills test?) so its the only thing that can give you a black and white gauge of your standards.

But don't worry too much about it! Have fun!

PS: I failed my Sec 1 test, 45/100 =P.

buying stuff

Ehh guys.

About what Mr Oura said today, that everyone should have their own mouthpiece and ligature, please go back and think about it. It would be unreasonable for me to expect all of you to get your own, due to the high cost of it. Nor does it guarantee that a new mouthpiece or ligature would mean a better tone or easier blowing; when I bought mine, I couldn't tell the difference AT ALL (although my seniors said I sounded better O.o).

I can't and won't try to force you all to make this sacrifice, minor or major as it may seem to you, but think of the potential gain. I don't know, it all depends whether you feel enough for the band to make this decision... premature as it may be for me to say that. The Sec 4s won't think worse of you if you don't feel this way, but I do strongly encourage you to do this.

Oh, and to the Sec 3s, good luck with your interviews on Friday =P!
